How I work

You’re in a committed relationship — but lately it feels lonely. The spark is dimmer. Conversations turn into tension. You love each other, but something feels off.

I’m Katya Halligan, a licensed marriage and family therapist and sex and intimacy specialist in Seattle. I work with couples who care deeply about each other but feel stuck — disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure how to find their way back. I often support partners navigating parenthood, fertility journeys, identity shifts, or sexual challenges.

Many couples come to me after trying to fix things on their own — the books, the podcasts, even past therapy — but still feeling unheard. My approach is warm, direct, and focused. We look at the patterns underneath the conflict, reconnect you to what matters most, and build practical tools that actually shift how you relate.

Therapy isn’t about blaming one partner or staying in therapy forever. It’s about understanding what keeps getting in the way — and creating a relationship that feels close, honest, and alive again.

I offer in-person sessions in Seattle and telehealth across Washington. My work is trauma-informed, sex-positive, and inclusive of LGBTQIA+ identities and diverse relationship styles.
